Who You Are

We are seeking a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)/NYS Licensed Behavior Analyst (LBA) for a Clinical Director position in Central New York. The primary role of the Clinical Director of the Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Program is to assist the Leadership Team in guiding the development and growth of the program by making informed short- and long-term decisions as related to the program. The person in this position will work closely with members of the Leadership Team to 1) facilitate high-quality ABA programming; 2) oversee ABA quality, supervision and training, and patient care; and 3) assist in program development and expansion.

The person in this position will play a crucial role in maintaining the health of the agency in staffing and clinical aspects. It is imperative that the person in this position excels in communication, organization, and time management in order to work efficiently with the Leadership Team and staff to ensure the health of the ABA program. The ability to visualize the growth and potential of the ABA program and its staff will require creativity, forethought, and pragmatics.

Given that a significant portion of the Clinical Director position is focused on supervision of staff, this person’s interpersonal skills will be paramount to their success and the success of the program. This individual should possess excellent conflict resolution skills, have an approachable demeanor, and a positive attitude. The Clinical Director should also have superb stress tolerance and the ability to separate being right from being effective with an emphasis on the latter.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide regular supervision to ABA supervisors

  • Provide supervision and feedback to all ABA staff as needed

  • Collaborate with the Leadership Team to develop and provide training for staff members at all levels including: Board Certified Behavior Analysts, Pre-BCBA and Clinical Support staff, Behavior Technicians, and other staff

  • Conduct trainings with parents and other community members as needed

  • Ensure maintenance of and follow through on the agenda from ABA Clinical Meetings

  • Assign new cases & tasks discussed

  • Disseminate any relevant information discussed in meetings to staff

  • Follow-up on any items requiring action

  • Communicate with the Leadership Team regularly regarding any clinical, staff, or material concerns/needs

  • Assist in the development of program policies and procedures relating to patients and staff

  • Analyze and optimize program-wide treatment outcomes

  • Develop programming and treatment interventions that cater to the specific needs of patients and their community

  • Conduct initial consultations, behavioral assessments, and treatment plans for new patients

  • Update patient goals and treatment plans

  • Research, create, and implement specified behavior reduction plans with patients that display challenging behavior

  • Analyze data taken by therapy teams, make treatment decisions, and write detailed treatment notes at the end of each supervision session

  • Participate in ongoing training and continuing education in order to maintain BACB credential

  • Demonstrate cultural competence while working with patients and their families

  • Communicate respectfully with patients, parents, supervisors, and staff

  • Monitor and promote staff alignment

  • Build relationships with outside providers and agencies, such as schools, to help promote the agency and foster integrated care

  • Regularly be present in all ABA spaces (Utica, Syracuse, Norwich). If in the future AAPSA expands to other areas the Clinical Director will also be expected to travel to any additional locations regularly.


  • Board Certification as a Behavior Analyst (BCBA)

  • New York State License as a Behavior Analyst (LBA) or eligibility for such

  • Qualifications to serve as Responsible Certificant to RBTs

  • First Aid/CPR Certificate

  • Work productively to develop relationships with individuals, families, community members, and other health/education professionals

  • Proven creative abilities
