The Administrative Assistant II will be responsible for managing the administrative operations of the Human and Evolutionary Biology Section, of the Department of Biological Sciences. The successful candidate will work well independently and excel at collaborating with the section’s faculty and staff; the successful candidate will have expertise in resource management, have strong organizational skills, be innovative and a self-starter.

The Administrative Assistant II will play a critical role in partnering with the faculty and staff to provide effective support, guidance, and organization of the HEB Section administrative needs,including those of the large undergraduate degree program in Human Biology.This is an outstanding opportunity for an administrative assistant to show organizational and collaborative skills, administering staff and fiscal resources.

Among its responsibilities, the Administrative Assistant will manage administrative functions in support of the Academic and Research Functions of the Section Faculty under the leadership of the Office Manager and the Section Head, including but not limited to

  • Organizing and expediting flow of work through the supervisors’ office and/or administrative department,

  • Supervising office student workers,

  • Supporting personnel activities for the sectionand for the undergraduate degree program,

  • Assisting in budget preparation by gathering historical data in limited area, such as materials and supplies,

  • Serving as resource to others on departmental and university procedures or in the resolution of moderate to complex problems or issues,

  • Coordinating facilities and shared equipment maintenance,

  • Composing and producing a variety of business correspondence, reports, confidential documents and/or forms, and related materials or guiding the work of other staff,

  • Researching and gathering data for departmental reports,

  • Managing the scheduling and reservation of shared space for the HEB faculty,

  • Coordinating functions with the Biological Sciences Department administration,

  • Collaborating with the Business Office.

Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. The university reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.

Hourly range:The hourly rate range for this position is $25.48 - $30.
