Administrative Support AST I
The College of Journalism and Communications at the University of Florida is seeking an Administrative Support Assistant I to provide reception and clerical support to the Dean’s Office.
This position provides administrative support for the Dean’s Office in a variety of duties. Greets visitors, screens incoming calls, receives and distributes mail, and provides information. Serves as the initial contact person for extensive traffic in the Dean’s Office including delivery personnel, facility issues, faculty, staff, and students. Prepares and processes confidential information, correspondence, records, financial documents, travel, and other general clerical duties using a variety of Microsoft Office applications.
This position is also responsible for providing assistance, as needed, to administrative and program assistants in the Dean’s Office as well as managing the building keys, copiers, parking, room reservations and assisting with college special event logistics.

$16.76 - $20.11 per hour
High school diploma or equivalent and one year of relevant experience.
- Two years of administrative/clerical/reception experience
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task, work under pressure, produce within deadlines, and work as part of the administrative team.
- Attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to track and follow-up on projects through completion.
- Articulate with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact diplomatically with a variety of individuals at all levels; develop a work environment which fosters faculty and employee satisfaction, and maintain strict confidentiality.
- General knowledge of office skills.
- Ability to work as liaison with faculty and departments of the College.
- Extensive knowledge of Journalism and Communications.
