Responsibilities of the Bookkeeper:

Responsibilities Include:

  • Process all facets of Accounts Payable (data entry of vendor bills, payables management, check processing)
  • Process all facets of Accounts Receivable (review customer invoices, AR Collections, customer payment and deposit processing)
  • Prepare month-end, quarterly and yearend journal entries for Financial Statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Monthly or Quarterly Inventory reconciliation
  • Prepare internal & external reports, as necessary
  • The Bookkeeper/Accountant will be responsible for all other aspects of accounting operations including G/L, A/R, A/P, Fixed Assets, Revolving Loans, Leases, Account Reconciliations and Cash Management
  • Assist in Payroll Administration, as necessary
  • Identify and pursue cost-saving opportunities
  • Assist in Setting-up policies and procedures and create new guidelines as required
  • Assist in IT software implementation projects, as necessary

Qualifications for the Bookkeeper/Accountant

  • Strong writing skills (clean, concise, accurate text).
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Preferred).
  • 1-3 years relevant experience working in accounting and bookkeeping
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of GAAP
  • Working knowledge of Excel and IT systems in general
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong team player with the ability to independently and resourcefully obtain needed information
  • Ability to build strong relationships and improve communication with customers and suppliers
  • Must be well-organized, and detail oriented self-starter
  • Must exercise sound judgment, work well independently, prioritize duties and follow tasks to completion
  • Must understand the importance of and consistently meet critical deadlines.
  • Must handle competing priorities and deadlines effectively and respond well to last minute, high priority, and time sensitive projects.
