Title: Cable Technician Location:Baltimore, MD Duration: Contract Job Description �Focus Infrastructure Position Description � Ability to utilize survey reports, maps, drawings, Plats, aerial photography, and other geographic data for consideration in designing Cable projects � Ability to utilize floor plans, building maps and related documentation in order to build and maintain solutions for the network cable plant. � Must be able to lift at least 60 pounds and climb ladders to complete their duties � Communicate lessons learned to the Manager and the project team � Is reliable and dependable to complete assignments accurately and on time � Able to take direction and work closely with the team to identify and communicate challenges and recommended process improvements � Accuracy, quality and completeness and schedule adherence can be independently maintained by you, and measured by others � Submits accurate timesheets for payroll processing � Demonstrates courtesy and ability to work with others in the office � Provide other related support as requested � Must show the ability to enter data quickly, correctly, and efficiently. � Understands how to convert data from older sources into digital formats � Install, terminate, test, and certify copper transport systems. � Repair and/or replace failed cable distribution and related equipment. � Use basic cable installation hand tools including CAT6 termination equipment, wire strippers, punch down tools and CAT6/Fiber Optic test equipment. � Maintain and troubleshoot site cable plant infrastructure. � Review project documentation and conduct site surveys to develop a plan and schedule to support successful project implementation. Perform cable moves, adds, install and changes, and update documentation to reflect the location of current and future network cabling. Education and Experience 1-3 years of experience Skills Requirements � Determine Quality of existing copper (Cat5 or better) � Determine Adequacy of existing support and installation (cable trays, supports, labeling, firestopping, and cable management) � Document plant pathway considerations/concerns � Cable testing � Installation/removal of switches, routers, WiFi access points and other network equipment � Ability to develop or assist in developing BOM estimates for labor and materials � Working knowledge of TIA, EIA, BICSI, or NEC Standards; including installation, trouble shooting and service, and working knowledge of building codes, electrical codes, communication standards, and installation � Familiar with industry tools and equipment � Valid driver's license with a clean driving history � Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing Must be able to pass CJIS background investigation
