Job Description:

Correctional Associate Warden for Programs
Reporting to the Warden, this position is responsible for the management of all Program services for the facility to include traditional program services, assist Inmate Classification, and Case Management, medical and psychological services, vocational and educational training, and structural vocational activities.  Job responsibilities include; but are not limited to, the following:
•    Developing programs as needed by the offender population and as available through the professional staff engaged in the correctional programs’ operation.
•    Establishing operating procedures and standards for all program’s services.
•    Providing ongoing training to subordinate staff.
•    Serving as a member of the Institution Management Team for planning, development and budgeting and will rotate as Officer-in-Charge and Duty Officer for the institution.
•    Assuming command of the institution in the absence of the Warden and Associate Warden for Custody/Operations.

This is a full-time position working rotating shifts with State Benefits.

The salary grade for this position is NC14.  State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position.  If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity.  Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.

About Harnett Correctional Institution:
Harnett Correctional Institution is located in Lillington, North Carolina and houses up to 988 male offenders in a medium custody facility.

To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following:
  • Documented skills in supervision and management techniques 
  • Documented knowledge of supportive counseling or treatment programs
  • Documented knowledge of services available to individuals from the community and other public and private programs
Bachelor's degree in a human services or criminal justice field and four years of experience in correctional programs management work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
