Red Hat’s Global Privacy Team in our Information Technology organization is excited to offer a Privacy Risk and Compliance internship in Summer 2023 to help meet the demands of our fast-paced and rapidly growing environment and evolving government regulations in the area of data privacy and security. The successful candidate will work closely with business partners in IT, Legal and other Red Hat organizations to deliver our Global Privacy Program.
Data Privacy is an area of ongoing importance. You will learn about the global data privacy landscape, including current laws and pending legislation and their applicability to Red Hat. The successful candidate will help execute and evolve our data privacy strategy, with responsibilities including but not limited to: keeping privacy documentation and records up to date, processing data subject requests, participating in privacy audits and assessments of compliance, developing and maintaining reports, dashboards and KPIs and other tactical activities necessary to implement and maintain Red Hat’s data privacy compliance framework.

What you will do
In this role you will be responsible for:
Assisting with conducting, reviewing, and documenting privacy impact assessments (PIAs) / data protection impact assessments (DPIAs) based on a variety of standards and data privacy laws
Following up on recommended remediations to ensure privacy compliance
Assisting with internal audits to support the Privacy program
Performing privacy related access audits and summary reporting on a recurring basis
Assisting with maintenance of privacy related documentation and records of data processing activities
Processing data subject requests including triage, task assignment, follow up and customer communications
Developing and maintain dashboards, KPIs and metrics to report on the overall health of the privacy program
Assisting with data privacy awareness training, including preparation of educational materials, and other assets
Partnering with privacy leaders and Red Hat Legal to ensure understanding and compliance with Global privacy laws, regulations, and emerging risks
Participating and assisting with security and/or privacy incidents, handling, processing, response, and reporting
What you will bring
Ability to work full time May-August
Currently pursuing a degree; students majoring in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Business or Legal disciplines are a plus. If you have graduated, you must be no more than 6 months past your graduation date
Strong communication skills, both written and orally
Ability to construct well-founded, clear, and concise analyses and recommendations
Strong attention to detail
Passion for handling complex information and solving problems
Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships
Strong reputation for integrity and ethics
Proficiency with privacy regulations (CCPA, GDPR, LGPD, HIPAA, etc.) and frameworks (GAPP, FIPS, NIST) and/or strong commitment and desire to learn more about these areas
Understanding of risk management
Proficiency with Google Suite of productivity applications including Google Sheets, Google Docs and Google Slides
