Community Health Care is seeking a Dental Assistant to join our team! We have a $1,500 Sign on Bonus available for this position! A position of responsibility which requires a variety of technical skills to include assisting the dentist/dental hygienist with dental preparation and prevention procedures as well as reception, clerical and billing duties as required. Will be responsible to perform such procedures as cleaning, sterilizing, placing temporary fillings, temporary crowns, etc. Will work under immediate supervision of a dentist/dental hygienist; to perform above stated and other related duties as assigned including patient accounts, fee collection, ordering and maintenance of equipment and supplies and assisting with the front office. Essential Functions: • Schedules appointments; greets and reassures patients • Registers and logs patients appropriately, initiates dental records; answers telephones; gives service and resource information • Records information for registration, letters, dental reports, insurance forms, inter-clinic communication; files charts, cards, reports • Totals patient accounts, performs face-to-face fee collection and records; performs billing and insurance coding; assists with bookkeeping and tracking; assists with record audits • Acts as Chair Assistant; operates suction equipment to keep patient’s mouth free of secretions; cleans and sterilizes dental instruments • Places temporary fillings after diagnosis and examination by dentist • Holds in place and removes impression materials after dentist placement; may take impressions for study models • Fabricate, place, and remove temporary crowns or bridges • Does oral examinations of patients without diagnosis; instructs patients in oral hygiene • Operates x-ray machines; takes bitewing and periodical x-rays • Removes sutures • Keeps dental areas clean and neat; sets up dental areas with equipment and supplies for procedures; assists patients with draping and position for procedures • Performs corneal polish • Provides topical fluoride applications • Places matrix and wedge for silver restoration; packs and medicates extraction areas; assists with administration anesthesia, polishes restorations • Removes excess cement after dentist has placed a crown or bridge • Maintains supplies for front desk and dental areas, orders and maintains inventory of supplies and equipment for clinic • Places topical anesthetic • Assists dentist in emergency medical procedures • Places retraction cord, selects denture shade and mold, acid etches, gives pre and post-operation instructions, appliances sealant, takes medical histories, takes blood pressure and vital signs and other duties as required. Minimum Qualifications: • Active Registered Dental Assistant in the State of Washington • High School Diploma or equivalent • Graduation from an accredited, state approved Dental Assistant Program • At least 3 months previous experience working chairside • BLS certification • HIV/AIDS training Preferred Qualifications: • One year chairside experience • Bilingual capacity • Community Health Care experience • Experience at front desk preferable • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Excellent Customer Service skills.
