Haskell’s Design & Consulting Team unites architecture, engineering, and consulting professionals from across industries and geographies. While some clients are looking for turnkey design-build or engineer-procure-construct projects, The Design & Consulting Team serves clients who need specialized, fee-for-service design or consulting projects. These types of projects allow our team to form a strong rapport with client teams, marshaling them as they grow and helping them address industry and market challenges. The Design & Consulting Team serves four primary markets: Government, primarily the Department of Defense, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Air and Army National Guard, and the U.S. Naval Facilities Command; Industrial, focusing on food and beverage, consumer products, and utilities; Civil Infrastructure; and Healthcare.
In this role, you will be responsible for performing design, detailing, and analysis utilizing Revit under the supervision of a Licensed Professional.
Job Responsibilities:
Conceptual Design
Effectively applies discipline design and detailing fundamentals in developing preliminary designs under the supervision of, and subject to, final approval by the Licensed Professional
Establish a discipline basis of design for the Design Manager to review
Prepares drawings for design-related activities
Detailed Design
Analysis Ability
Performs analysis or calculations as assigned
Designing for safety incorporated into drawings
Responsible for design compliance with owner criteria
Detailing
Assists the Licensed Professional with production of specifications
Assists the Licensed Professional with presentation drawings, and other deliverables as required by the Licensed Professional
Code compliance review with design professional
Maintains AE checklists for Design Manager to review
Participates in coordination review sessions
Coordinates work with other disciplines as to dimensions and interference to minimize deficiencies, errors and omissions
Uses Haskell standards and procedures
Construction Documents
Produces well-organized, finished design documents of good appearance, accuracy, clarity and correctness, adhering to team and discipline standards
Construction Support
Subject to final approval of Licensed Professional, checks shop drawings and submittal data for conformance with contract documents
Advises and assists construction personnel in the interpretation and clarification of construction documents as directed by the Licensed Professional, providing timely solutions to field problems, preparing field orders, addenda, and record drawings subject to approval by the Licensed Professional
Shop drawings returned on schedule
Responds to field/construction questions as directed by discipline leader
Creates inspection reports and punch lists
Planning, Scheduling and Profitability
Assists the Licensed Professional with drawing, planning, production, management and adherence to schedule
Meets scheduled key dates
Discusses progress regularly with Licensed Professional of Record
Advises Design Manager of changes
Design to budget man-hours
Bid review participation (design vs. estimate)
Project Management
Project strategy enforcement - proposal, CD’s
Records notes of meetings and telephone conversations and review with AE Project leadership
Adheres to established company standards and policies
Maintains orderly work file, prepares clear well-written memos/correspondence
Assists Licensed Professional by providing required information on timely basis and keeping supervisor apprised as to progress of the work
Education/Experience:
High school degree plus a typical minimum of five years of experience in applicable design and REVIT
Specific Knowledge, Skills, License, Certifications:
- Proficient in the use of REVIT
Environmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
