An imperative around driving efficient, reusable and easy to consume technology solutions is a bedrock of our Company's IT and Digital Strategy. The Enterprise Architecture capability across the company needs to pivot and expand its service offerings and delivery results this year. The CTO Organization’s EA team has been tasked to lead this transformation. The EA team’s mission of “ providing strategic technology decisions linked to investments that achieve business outcomes ” sets the direction and focus for the architecture capability that will underpin the company’s Digital Strategy.

This position will lead the overall direction for enterprise architecture capabilities that are needed to support our Company's Digital Manufacturing Division IT function. The position, in partnership with our Manufacturing Division Digital technology team, is responsible for delivering business, systems and technology architecture decisions that drive investments for our Manufacturing Division . This role will work collaboratively with business and IT leaders throughout the business division. The position will serve as a member of our Manufacturing Division Digital IT leadership team and report dotted-line to our Manufacturing Division Digital IT lead.

This leader will have an opportunity to work on a truly enterprise team that engages with leaders across all divisions and will be directly involved in helping enable our Chief Information Officer’s vision of a more top-down, agile, and business outcomes focused IT organization

A partial list of responsibilities includes the following:

  • Use agile, value-centric, business outcomes-oriented, and total cost of ownership-based principles to guide EA decision making.

  • Contribute to the development of a documented business architecture in collaboration with our Manufacturing Division Digital technology team.

  • Direct the end-to-end development of systems and technology blueprints and roadmap deliverables.

  • Enable our Manufacturing DivisionDigital ITteam’s annual deliverables/objectives and performance goals.

  • Establish strong working relationships with business and technology leaders in order to align investment planning, portfolio planning and execution with these roadmaps and architectures.

  • Define metrics for the measuring of technology maturity, health, and business value and plays an active role in delivering these measures.

  • Drive investment decisions with a mindset to optimize total cost of ownership delivered business value.

  • Work across IT to drive capability-led investment planning decisions.

  • Stay current with industry technology trends and introduce best practices to our Company's IT.

  • Facilitate EA Governance within responsible division or function.

  • Drive the notion of reusable architecture assets & standards such as current-state business/technology capability maps as well as future state planning roadmaps across all of IT.

  • Partner with our Manufacturing Division Digital Architecture lead, architects, and capability owners in the other business units to re-use the best available technologies and processes.

  • Help define and own the management of the EA operating model across the enterprise.

  • Support the creation of a common and well managed set of EA practices, which includes architecture models, architecture governance processes, architecture methods and templates, architecture communities and training, and much more.

  • Create EA deliverables and artifacts relevant for accountable architecture domain(s).

  • Effectively work with both waterfall and agile project teams to evolve the technical landscape toward the desired end state.

  • Apply risk-based decision making to complex problems and consult with relevant subject matter advisors as needed to inform the decision.

  • Prepare and deliver executive level briefings and communicate complex topics effectively to a diverse executive audience.

Travel will be required (10-20%).

Position Qualifications

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science preferred or equivalent related experience.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • 12+ years prior experience in Enterprise, Business, Information, Systems & Application or Solution Architectures.

  • Understanding of Information and Operations Technology ( IT/OT ) systems that support Manufacturing & Supply Chains, including manufacturing execution systems, quality & labs systems, resource planning systems, MES, DCS, PLC/SCADA and industrial automation technologies, manufacturing IoT, track & trace, cold chain and other supply chain systems, security and shop floor networks.

  • Working knowledge and application of ISA S95 and S88 Standards in GxP environment

  • Working knowledge of Cloud, SaaS, and modern Analytics and data integration architecture, platforms, and solutions

  • Good understanding of end-to-end Manufacturing business processes and value streams inclusive of Quality and Supply chain

  • Demonstrated ability to partner with business stakeholders and navigate across conflicting priorities to balance critical tactical and strategic needs.

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills – able to effectively communicate complex concepts in simple ways.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate and communicate with a variety of audiences and stakeholders including executive management, business leaders, IT peers, and colleagues worldwide.

  • Strategic thinker, with demonstrated ability to work in a broad and top-down manner with a fair amount of ambiguity at the center.

  • Results-orientation with the proven ability and reputation for developing plans and implementing them successfully.

  • Demonstrated leadership in achieving shared objectives in a matrix organization, managing cross-divisional initiatives, and cross-functional teams in an extremely dynamic environment.

  • Self-directed, self-motivated, focused leader who with little direction can fill in the gaps as to what is needed, and drive expected results.

  • Demonstrated ability to envision the future and rally the organization / people towards a common goal.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Prior experience in the Pharmaceutical industry, with specific experience in the Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing Quality areas.

  • Experience in developing Process and Master Data Management strategies.

  • Knowledge/certification in TOGAF or other EA methodology frameworks

  • Experience in integrating real time shopfloor and lab systems, at an enterprise level, with appropriate levels of resiliency and performance

  • Experience in manufacturing analytics systems, including supply and demand forecasting, biologics process modelling and advanced image analysis..

  • Understanding of regulatory requirements that drive IT delivery, including 21-CFR-Part-11, Annex 11, Good Manufacturing practices, Computer Systems Validation, track and trace, and other global regulatory requirements that impact IT systems in the manufacturing and supply chain space.

  • Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments.

  • Knowledge of business process re-engineering principles and processes.

  • Strong understanding of application development methodologies.
