Director, Payer Development

The Director of Payer Development is a critical leader in the organization and works closely with the executive leadership team to help Global Nephrology Solutions win in the managed care market. The position requires a high degree of financial and analytic skills, initiative, judgment, and follow-through on a wide range of sensitive and complex issues.

Location: Can be remote. Travel is required ~50% in this role to corporate headquarters in Phoenix, AZ and to customer sites.

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a strategic lead, supporting the negotiation of value-based and risk-sharing contracts with health plans in various markets.
  • Work with the SVP, Payer Contracting and executive team on the end-to-end value-based sales process and strategy projects related to growth in the value-based market.
  • Develop a quantitative and qualitative understanding of growth markets for Global Nephrology, and how to position the company to realize its growth potential. Includes market and customer segment analysis, pipeline development, and supporting deals that grow revenue and margin for Global Nephrology.
  • Be at the table during negotiations.
  • Communicate key terms of executed contracts to internal partners for implementation, including Operations and Account Management.
  • Develops market and product insights to support innovation and strategic growth. Independently corrals the internal team towards building a prudent, profitable growth machine.
  • Performs and supports financial analysis to inform deal structure and negotiation with customers.
  • Works closely with customers to organize and complete complex diligence activities prior to contracted partnerships.
  • Prepares and presents pitches and proposals to customers.
  • Reviews and redlines contracts; provides critical input during the negotiation of deals.
  • Manage special projects related to payer market research, payer contracting, rate negotiation, and overall management of all GNS value-based contracts.

Position reports to SVP, Payer Contracting & Relations and does not include direct supervisory responsibilities initially. Includes high exposure to customers, CEO, and investors in the process of commercial growth of the company.

Preferred Qualifications (Experience, credentials, education)

  • 4+ years of leadership in strategy, finance, consulting, or related roles.
  • At least 2 years of experience in health care services, preferably medical services or managed care.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field required, Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Expert proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, SharePoint, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.
