The Enterprise Data Solutions and Engineering (EDSE), a Pfizer Digital organization, is responsible for the development and management of all data and analytics tools and platforms across the enterprise - from global research and development, to manufacturing, to commercial, to patient care across over 100+ countries. One of the team's top priorities is the advancement of AI/ML enabled analytics and the creation of data solutions that can be leveraged across the enterprise.
As a member of EDSE's Enablement and Governance team, a data engineer is responsible to architect, design and build data models, pipelines and products across various domains to power ML ops platforms, data driven applications and software and enable business intelligence solutions. This role will work with the business unit and digital leadership to understand the growing business needs and strategies where the application of AI and ML can yield new products and services and enhance existing processes. The colleague will provide the technical vision and strategy for developing a data mesh utilizing innovative semantic technologies to integrate cross-domain data products for human and machine-driven decisions.
The colleague will have the technical knowledge of data management, data modeling, and big data technologies while having in-depth scientific know-how to understand the data assets at play. Furthermore, His/her work will improve our data's quality, reliability, connectedness, and consistency by working with a taxonomer on ontologies and models to represent the broad scientific knowledge.
This role will be part of a team of engineers and product managers who are experts in architecture, design and data standards for multiple domains - Research & Development, Global Product Development, Commercial, Global Supply, HR and Finance. This position is a global role and will operate in a matrix environment.

How You Will Achieve It
Reporting to the Director - Team Leader for EDSE Data Governance and Enablement, this role will be responsible for the technical development and engineering of data products enabled for advanced data science modeling, chatbots, application, and BI visualizations.
Define business problems and opportunities
Own features and successful implementation from end to end: Designs and architect data solutions to support the development of AI/ML algorithms and prototypes
Collaborates with internal/external partners to design, build and deliver best-in-class data products roadmap globally
Understanding of event-driven data processing architecture
Promotes FAIR data principles and collaborates with Partner with Data Curator/Ontologists to ensure enhance the quality of the data products through human and/or automatic methods
Lead and influence other teams to adopt and leverage the best technology choices for machine learning, data exploration, and recommendation engines
Develops Prototypes to solve key business gaps and provide technical know-how to scale up these utilities for mainstream use by the broader scientific and business community
Anticipates emergent data type needs and stays current with cutting-edge technology
Contribute to a culture of high performance, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications
Must-Have
Professional Experience and Educational Requirements
7+ years of data engineering with specific experience in research and development
5+ years of engineering data products for AI, ML solutions, knowledge graphs and natural language processing
Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree strongly preferred, with a preference for advanced degree holders with a focus in strategy Computer Science, Software Development, Engineering
5+ years of related work experience as a partner with data science organizations with a strong preference of pharmaceutical industry
Experiences in digital product ownership, including ownership roles such as roadmap, evangelism, development, and lifecycle
Must have strong technical skills
Knowledgeable of cloud-based architectures, cloud analytics products/solutions, and agile methodologies to enable rapid cycles of development and release of analytics and data products/solutions (eg: AWS, Snowflake, Dataiku)
Detailed knowledge of data warehouse technical architecture, infrastructure components, ETL and reporting/analytic tools and environment
Extensive Experience with ontology development (RDF(S)/OWL, SPARQL, the Semantic Web or Frame based KR systems)
Extensive technical and implementation knowledge of data standards and data quality frameworks
Must show the ability to interact and influence all levels of a large digital organization
Understanding of Pharmaceutical R&D data; the ideal candidate would be able to work independently with the ability to prioritize activities
Exceptional verbal, written communication and organizational skills, along with interpersonal skills that allow for collaboration across a diverse group of people
