News 12 NJ is looking for a Freelance Associate Producer to assist in the development and production of our news programming. The ideal candidate has a passion for news and journalism and the ability to contribute to the creation of excellent news production.
This position is responsible for the writing and formatting of scripts, as well as coordinating our program elements. In addition, this role will fill in as coverage in a producer's absence for vacation, personal time, and/or leave.
In this role, you will work closely with all producers as they develop content and execute live programming. This role requires you to manage multiple tasks at one time, without compromising details. The successful candidate must be a self-starter and independent worker who is comfortable with varied schedules. At the same time, you must be adaptable and flexible, a team player who is able to mix easily and work effectively in our small, scrappy and highly collaborative team.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
Previous experience in news and/or journalism preferred.
Familiarity with newscast production software, like ENPS, Prompter, etc
Competence in broadcast news writing
Knowledge of and interest in local, national, world, and business news
Ability to meet deadlines under pressure
Flexible schedule with ability to work nights, weekends and holidays
