Are you a bold thinker? We dream big at Sierra Nevada Corporation-advocatingthe exploration of space, keeping service members safe and creating thesystems that keep our world united and sustain our way of living. Join ourteam! As a spacecraft GNC engineer, you will help design and test thesoftware that moves and controls multi-domain space mission vehicles, aswell as guide the clean-sheet design of the configuration. You will have greatlatitude to be creative and will be asked to use modern control and navigationtechniques to advance our capabilities in space, whether the mission isEarth-observation, satellite servicing operations, or classified DoDactivities. You will help to design a concept of operations to accomplish themission and then work across the engineering disciplines to ensure thatcandidate approaches to propulsion, avionics, sensors, and actuatorssupport that mission. You will identify key performance parameters andconstraints to enable mission success and future capabilities. As a Spacecraft GNC Engineer at SNC you will both help with system-leveltrades to optimize spacecraft configurations and design the softwarealgorithms that ensure mission success for both civilian and DoD applications.Your algorithm design and selection will be informed by understanding, analyzing and evaluating satellite and constellation capabilities, missionconcepts, and system requirements. Your work will ensure solutions meetcustomer requirements in the architecting, designing, planning, procuring, integrating, and testing phases of the program. You will guidethe concept all the way from clean-sheet design to a testbed prototype andsubsequent delivery of flight qualified end items. Along the way you willbuild tools for modeling, simulation, and subsystem analysis to makeefficient data-driven decisions of various architectures that include controlactuation, navigation sensors, and system stability. You will evolve orcreate new approaches based on trade/analysis results. You will alsocontribute to evaluating the mission effectiveness of the candidateapproaches, balancing mission objectives against factors such as developmentanMust-haves:Bachelors of Science degree in Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering or relateddiscipline and typically 6 or more years of relevant experience.Experience developing models, simulations, and aerospace analysis toolsusing software and software languages such as MATLAB, Python, or C/C++.Experience designing and/or tuning guidance, navigation, and controlalgorithms in aerospace applications.Experience analyzing flight vehicles for flight qualities includingstability, controllability, and performance capabilitiesKnowledge of modern navigation and control techniques, such as Kalmanfiltering and PID and optimal controlExperience performing system level trade studies and sensitivity analysis inthe design phase of engineering developmentAbility to rapidly work with minimal supervision on projects involving bothsmall and large engineering teams.Desire for new challenges, to be on the ground floor of an excitingcapability for our nation, and to be part of the initial cadre developing anew multi-domain system.Willingness to work on a small team performing complex engineering designevaluations for a diverse mission where everyone's input matters.Experience working on multi-disciplinary design and development teams.Thorough understanding of systems engineering principles, requirementsanalysis (RA), CONOP development and Verification and Validation (V&V).The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance isrequired.Preferred:An active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility; U.S. SecurityClearance strongly desired.Masters of Science degree in Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering or relateddiscipline and typically 4 or more years of relevant experience in theaerospace and defense industry.Experience integrating software onto embedded processors forhardware-in-the-loop and/or flight testing.Experience usi
