DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Legal Assistant 1, you will support the regional attorneys of the Pittsburgh Office of Chief Counsel by extracting pertinent information from and for files to prepare and/or assist with confidential correspondence, memos, letters, agreements, briefs, pleadings, findings of fact, and other legal documents for the signature of attorneys within the Regional Office. You'll proofread materials for errors and to ensure they are grammatically correct and in proper legal form as well as m aintain case tracking and other legal information using electronic database.
This position also requires you to prepare settlement memoranda involving critically importation information, i.e., date of condemnation, preapproval amount, date of estimated just compensation payment, etc. all of which have to be cross-checked with file to make sure information is accurate for payment. Another component of this role is to prepare and draft a variety of legal documents for filing with the appropriate court (Board of Viewers, Common Pleas, Commonwealth, Supreme and Superior and/or other state and federal tribunals).

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Work hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up two to three days a week in the office. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Pittsburgh.
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Three years of responsible clerical, enforcement or investigative work;or
An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Good interpersonal skills, including active listening, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving.
You must be able to perform essential job functions.
