Manage and maintain a variety of Linux/Unix operating systems, particularly RHEL 7x, including system administration, security patching, OS upgrades, and trouble-shooting
Willing to perform rotational on-call support and/or non-standard working hours in a 24x7/365 operational environment
Design and solve complex problems with automation first techniques utilizing client provided automation tools.
Write system scripts for daily administration and have the ability to document system infrastructure including Ansible playbooks
Install, test, configure, customize, and maintain various data center facility support systems.
Monitor and maintain system performance, capacity, availability, and tune as needed.
Develop, maintain, and document programs or scripts to perform systems/platform maintenance using enterprise frameworks in at least one of a variety of languages
Maintain and contribute to enterprise source code and configuration (git) repositories.
Participates in Post-Incident Reviews to document lessons learned to create/update automation/tooling.
Analyze system logs and identify and remediate issues with systems.
Create, maintain, and execute scripts to perform routine maintenance.
Perform patch/fix research and software upgrades through service packs or other software bundling methodologies following governmental standards and procedures used at the DISC.
Monitor and maintain system performance, capacity, availability and perform tuning as needed.
Configure, customize, and optimize clustering or other high availability solutions to support failover and/or disaster recovery.
Utilize automation tools and frameworks following organizational standards.
Develop solutions leading to improvements.
Utilize methods for identifying opportunities for improvement.
Perform system backups and recovery
What You Will Need :
BA/BS Degree. In lieu of degree 4 years additional experience will be needed.
4-6 years of experience as a System Administrator
Experience with Ansible and/or Puppet
Experience with configuration management and automation tools in a data center environment
US. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is required for the position
Strong written and oral communication skills
Exceptional customer service skills.
Strong time-management and prioritization skills.
Ability to communicate applicable technical subject matter expertise to management and others.
Ability to apply and provide feedback on service operation model and practices.
What Would Be Nice To Have :
Operational experience in a 24x7x365 environment
Willing and able to work non-standard hours (evenings, nights)
The annual salary range for this position is $75,000.00-$112,500.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
