Manufacturing Electrical Engineer

Manufacturing Electrical Engineer Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Designing and implementing production processes for new products;
  • Review and revise existing production processes to increase efficiency/part flow or cost reduction.
  • Design new production fixtures, tooling, and special gages based upon standard or unique requirements for process improvement;
  • Assess and revise current fixtures, tooling, and gaging as needed;
  • Interfacing with customers? engineering staff to resolve production issues;
  • Creating detailed work instructions;
  • Creating and maintaining the Bills of Materials for existing and new products;
  • Conducting operation and process qualifications as required by customers;
  • Interacting with vendors and suppliers to ensure high quality products or services;
  • Training operators on work instructions for proper methods;
  • Supporting new product manufacturing from R&D to assembly stages.
  • Ability to interface with shop floor, manufacturing, and R&D personnel;
  • Identify and prioritizing process bottlenecks develop process improvement;
  • Work with key operators to ensure that any updates to the operating procedures in their areas are understood & followed
  • Create drawings of assemblies and sub-assemblies.
  • Create layouts of the shop floor manufacturing areas
  • Assisting & supporting quality inspections and product failure analysis.
  • Supporting & executing assignments set by Manager, provide feedback and identify areas of improvement to processes and products;
  • Ensuring design/direction of the products meet safety, strategic function and goals;
  • Complete the developing, presenting and reviewing of technical information and project status to peers and customers at various organization level.
  • Performing related duties as assigned & support all project work and direction.

Manufacturing Electrical Engineer Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • 3 years of manufacturing engineering experience with complex electrical assemblies preferred.
  • Bachelor degree or above in electrical or manufacturing engineering from an accredited college required.
  • PE is a Plus
  • Strong academic background involving high and low power electrical disciplines with exposure to SIL software development, embedded circuit board/component layout preferred.
  • Project management skills and experience in the areas of estimating, scheduling, tracking, risk, and outsourcing are required.
  • Analysis skills, including decision, risk, cost, life cycle costs, safety, reliability, and maintainability, are required.
  • Self-discipline and self-motivation is required.
  • A desire for customer satisfaction and customer interaction is required.
  • Requirements, design, architecture, verification and validation, testing and problem-solving skills
  • Ethernet, Can/CanOpen, MVB and LonWorks network experience.
  • Experience with Requirements Management, Configuration Management, Defect/change request tracking, Verification and Validation - (CaliberRM, Polarion and StarTeam tools preferred).
  • Inter-personal skills are required for communication and coordinated work with project lead, team members, customers, vendors and outsourcing engineers.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills related to technical topics, reporting and documentation.
  • Use of simulation tools, assessment models, logic diagrams, architecture diagrams, context diagrams, block diagrams, state machines or equivalent.
  • Knowledgeable in Industry Standards such as EN/IEC/IEEE Standards
  • Knowledge of differing manufacturing processes and impacts to product cost and reliability.
  • Active experience in a design or system engineering position that includes areas associated with a design life cycle (planning, concept, requirements, design, implementation, testing, maintenance), preferably in a defined process environment. Additional consideration for training related to CMMi, process improvement.

Manufacturing Electrical Engineer Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, or local standards; including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, or local standards.
