UW's School of Oceanography has an outstanding opportunity open for an Intermittent Marine Engineer, Third Assistant. Job Duties Serve as third assistant engineering officer aboard an ocean research ship of approximately 2000 gross tons. Under general supervision, serve as third assistant engineering officer in the operation and maintenance of propulsion and auxiliary machinery of a diesel electric powered ocean research ship, 6000 HP. Stand engine room watch as operating engineer of propulsion or auxiliary machinery; direct operation of engineering department personnel as assigned; direct routine maintenance of deck machinery, refrigeration and air conditioning; maintain operating and maintenance logs and records; perform related duties as required. Minimum qualifications: A U.S. Coast Guard Third Assistant Engineer's license valid for operation of a 2000 HP inspected ocean motor vessel.
