Who we are:

Directions for Youth & Families offers community-based mental
health and prevention services that utilize a resiliency-oriented and
trauma-informed framework. DFYF has provided innovative, culturally
sensitive, and successful programming to the Central Ohio community
since 1899, through our predecessor Crittenton Family Services. DFYF
offers a variety specialized programs to meet the diverse needs of our
community. Presently, DFYFs programs are divided into 4 categories:
Counseling & Clinical Services, Kindergarten Readiness, Parenting
Services, and Afterschool & Summer programming. DFYF proudly
serves over 5,000 youth, adults, and families each year. All of our
programs strive to fulfill our mission to build and inspire hope,
healing, and resilience for youth, families, and communities through
counseling and education.

Position overview:

Our Crittenton Center, is seeking a passionate and creative Music
Instructor who wants to make a meaningful difference in the lives of
children. The role of the Music Instructor is to provide musical
group learning in an afterschool and summer program environment.
Responsibilities include lesson plan development, class instruction,
rehearsals, and oversight of performances. Applicants should have
experience and knowledge of various musical instruments (piano,
percussion, vocals, guitar and steel drums). Additionally, applicants
should possess strong knowledge in music theory - rhythm, melody,
harmony, timbre, form, texture and dynamics.

The Music Instructor position is part-time. Applicants should have a
strong desire to work with youth between the ages of 8-18 years old.
Afterschool programming hours are daily, Monday - Friday from 3-8pm
and Summer programming hours are daily Monday - Friday 9-3pm. Basic
computer skills, documentation, and coordination of musical
performances are required.

Experience and Skills:

Additional requirements:

Bachelor degree in Music preferred, or strong musical training with
2+ years experience

Experience facilitating music activities

Experience working with youth

Strong engagement and communication skills

Valid Drivers License and insurance
