Responsibilities:
Applications for Part-Time, Adjunct Instructor pools are continually accepted (unless otherwise specified) by the District and will be added to the application pool for review by hiring authorities on an as-needed basis. Should you be invited for an interview, you will be contacted by a District representative.

This is a part-time EMT and Paramedic Instructor position at the Higher Education Center in Otay Mesa. The department is looking for qualified instructors with the education and experience to teach courses in EMS at the paramedic level. The assignment(s) are as needed, during Spring, Summer, and/or Fall semester(s).

Knowledge and Abilities:


Education and Experience:


Minimum Qualifications: (Faculty and Academic Administrator Positions Only)
Any bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of related occupational experience in an allied health field OR
Any associates degree and six (6) years of related occupational experience in an allied health field.

Desirable Qualifications:
  1. Recent work experience as a field paramedic or recent experience as a Mobile Intensive Care Nurse within the State of California. Teaching experience in an accredited paramedic training program. Recent experience working in an Emergency Medical Services (EMS) role within the fire service.
  2. Instructor and/or provider certifications in AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, AHA PALS, PHTLS.
  3. Demonstrated knowledge of the implications of the Hispanic-Serving Institution designation for instructional, department and instructional practices.
  4. Recent experience working with disproportionately impacted and culturally diverse students.
  5. Experience and expertise in culturally responsive teaching in the emergency medical services.
  6. Demonstrated ability to address equity gaps within the EMT and Paramedic Programs courses and classrooms.


Salary
$75.33 to $92.64 per lecture hour AND $62.52 to $76.89 per lab hourFinalized Salary Placement is based on units beyond a bachelor’s degree with a master’s degree conferred.
