Statement of Job:
The University of Southern Maine’s Department of Exercise, Health, and Sport Sciences (EHSS) invites applicants for a part-time faculty position for our Fall 2022 Semester (August 29, 2022 – May 2023). This is an in-person teaching position on our Gorham Campus.
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses within the Department’s Exercise Science and Health Sciences degree programs. Specific courses may include: methods of resistance training and conditioning, health promotion programs, kinesiology, essentials of personal training, and practicum supervision. Responsibilities include teaching, assessing, and meeting with students as needed about the course.
The Department of EHSS offers degrees in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, and Health Sciences. These innovative programs offer students the opportunity to gain clinical experience while using the most advanced athletic training and exercise science equipment available. EHSS offers accredited, professional programs that provide a quality learning environment through content-rich curricula, student-faculty interactions, and active learning experiences to emphasize the application of knowledge. Part-time faculty members are paid on a credit hour basis based on prior college teaching experience. In addition, USM employees can use their USM Card to access the library, Cigna Employee Assistance Plan, and fitness center (s). USM also offers part-time faculty the opportunity for development frequently through our Center for Collaboration and Development (CCD) and the chance to get an online teaching certification and training through CTEL, in addition to other developmental opportunities open to all staff throughout the year.

- A completed Master’s Degree in Exercise Science or related field.
- Prior experience teaching at the collegiate level is preferred.
