This position is responsible for the management and oversight of the Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program at Moses Cone Hospital including: the recruitment, supervision, and education of CPE students; maintenance of the program in full accordance with the standards of the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE); and, assisting the director to assure the quality of spiritual care at Moses Cone.
Oversees all matters related to the administration and oversight of the ACPE program, including but not limited to group and individual supervision, management of accreditation matters, recruitment of interns/residents, oversight of the Professional Advisory Group, and filing of appropriate reports to ACPE on behalf of Center.
Provides and assures required educational and supervisory experiences for all students in keeping with all ACPE Standards.
Offers subject matter expertise to educate students and facilitate discussion.
Supervises students to appropriately serve the spiritual, emotional and crisis needs of the patient and the Emergency Department. Oversees the on-call schedule for the Moses Cone Hospital including the use of PRN chaplains.
Maintains group cohesion using interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
Responsible for assessing, monitoring, evaluating student progress and providing evaluations as expected by ACPE Standards.
Responsible for assessing, student concerns related to their understanding of course materials and evaluation.
Maintains ACPE Accreditation for the Hospital as a Center for CPE.
Participates in patient care as requested / needed and records patient care activity in the Electronic Medical Record.
EDUCATION:

Masters, Required
Undergraduate degree from an approved college or university
Masters of Divinity from an accredited seminary

2 years experience as a chaplain
Preferred:
2 years experience as a CPE Educator
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
Required:
Certification as an Associate Certified Educator or Certified Educator through the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE).
Preferred:
Board Certified by the Association of Professional Chaplain (APC), Association of Jewish Chaplains (AJC), National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC), College of Pastoral Supervision and Psychotherapy (CPSP), Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC) or other related certifying body.
