JOB SUMMARY Responsible for daily operations of assigned hospital Business Office functions, including staff management, supervision, and development; implementation of departmental policies and procedures; and staff relief as needed. Executes assigned tasks in support of Manager and Department Director and revenue cycle goals. JOB SPECIFICATIONS Education and/or experience: High school graduate or GED required. Associates degree in business, accounting/finance, or related field preferred. Must have at least two (2) years previous management/supervisory experience in the same or similar role or three (3) years progressive experience in a medical business office. Certification as a Patient Account Representative (CPAR) or Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) preferred. Experience with McKesson Paragon,ePremis,OneContent, NextGen, Point Click Care, Brighttree, NetSmart, Quadax or similar systems preferred. Knowledge: Working knowledge of accounting principles and practices; administrative and clerical procedures for managing systems, files and records; principles of excellent customer service; quality improvement processes and human resources management required. Must have a detailed understanding of third party reimbursement guidelines in addition to compliance and regulatory requirements, such as HIPAA, False Claims Act, and coordination of insurance benefits, for areas of responsibility. Basic knowledge of CPT and ICD coding and general audit procedures required. Must have a working knowledge of all areas ofthe Revenue Cycle. Skills: Requires strong customer service orientation, analytical problem solving, time management, leadership and organization skills, including attention to detail, Microsoft Word, and Excel; and excellent oral and written communication skills. Must possess a high aptitude for math and reading comprehension; and critical thinking and decision making skills. Project management skills preferred. Abilities: Ability to plan, schedule, and delegate work as well as effectively work with and through staff, peers, customers, third party payors to accomplish assigned tasks and objectives required. Must be able to clearly communicatehospital policies and practices; coach, educate, train and evaluate employees; persuade others and negotiate resolutions; analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution to solve problems; motivate team members; work both independently and cooperatively to effectively lead a team; and use relevant information and individual judgment to comply with applicable laws and regulations. Must have the ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner; complete tasks on time; be dependable, self-motivated, and adaptable.
