Working under the immediate supervision of a pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician Lead role interacts with patients and healthcare providers to perform a variety of technical pharmaceutical tasks including performing pharmaceutical calculations, preparing medications and maintaining the electronic medication medical record for patients. This includes admixing both hazardous and nonhazardous IV drugs for patients and maintaining the clean rooms. Additionally the role assists in directing the daily pharmacy workflow, training and developing staff, and acting as the primary pharmacy point of contact for performance improvement efforts.
Assists in the implementation of new policies and procedures including communication to and training of staff.
Facilitates competency assessments for Pharmacy Technician II's
Organizes daily workflow for the IV room to insure no delay in patient treatment.
Partners with the CPI team to drive improvements within the pharmacy area.
Completes all the primary responsibilities of the Pharmacy Technician II (insert link to PT II)
Other pharmacy related duties in accordance with regulations under Washington State Pharmacy Quality Assurance Commission
Required:
High school graduate or equivalent; completion of Pharmacy Technician Program
Certified as a Washington State Pharmacy Technician.
Able to perform basic pharmaceutical calculations.
Ability to use a mouse, navigate computer programs, enter data into computer systems in accurately and efficiently.
Ability to communicate verbally in person, on the phone, and in writing in a clear, concise and professional manner.
Familiar with the generic names of drugs along with their basic indication.
Two years or more of relevant pharmacy experience, including hazardous and nonhazardous mixing experience.
Preferred:
Pharmacy technician lead experience
Ability to operate a Point of Sale system
This position is patient facing and/or requires access to Fred Hutch clinical facilities. As such, full COVID-19 vaccination is required as a condition of employment, without exception. The hourly pay range for this position is from $31.49 to $46.32 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.??
