You will be joining a rapidly expanding elite team of engineers. The team is committed to building a privacy-forward product that will connect students and colleges. At its maturity, the product will serve engaging content to students across multiple channels, including a mobile app. We are focusedonimproving the speed and reliability of our service delivery in support of our mission; to positively impact the educational and career trajectories of millions of students annually. &br&&br&&b&About the Opportunity&/b&&br&&br&As a Principal Engineer, you are a technical leader, a partner, and an innovator. You have strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and you use data to inform decisions and actions. You will apply these skills while leading large, strategic, or complex projects that have a clear impact on our organization and mission. Your technical expertise and desire to maintain awareness and knowledge of emerging technology trends accelerate your ability to provide technical oversight of our teams' products, as well as guide the teams toward improved ways of working. Your exceptional organization and prioritization skills give you the unique ability to move forward with multiple projects in concert, both independently and as a member of the team. Your exceptional verbal and written communication skills will be a great asset as you interface directly with our clients, gaining a deep understanding of their needs. These skills, combined with your effective collaboration and negotiation skills, enable you to work directly with our product owners and designers to find the most efficient and effective technical solutions to meet our users' needs and delight them.&br&&br&&b&In this role, you will:&/b&&br&&br&Strategy & Design Leadership (60%)&br&&br&&ul&&li&Set architectural direction for a broad set of domains and systems&br&&/li&&li&Design and implement best-in-class systems and frameworks that will succeed long-term&br&&/li&&li&Deliver upon initiatives with organizational impact and priority&br&&/li&&li&Define technical strategy that improves products, infrastructure, processes, and organization while staying abreast of risks and opportunities that influence strategy&br&&/li&&li&Provide exceptional leadership and technical innovations to features that span boundaries across engineering teams&br&&/li&&/ul&&br&Coaching and Collaboration (40%)&br&&br&&ul&&li&Be a great partner, working across technical teams to build sustainable contracts and looking out for the good of the system vs. what might be easiest for a sole product&br&&/li&&li&Play a critical role in coaching and mentoring junior engineers&br&&/li&&li&Contribute content and facilitation for the Full Stack Technical Education program&br&&/li&&li&Support recruiting and hiring for various engineering teams and positions&br&&/li&&/ul&&br&&b&You Have:&/b&&br&&br&&ul&&li&15+ years of experience in software systems, programming, database development, and infrastructure development and administration&br&&/li&&li&A graduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or similar experience with fundamentals&br&&/li&&li&A track record of influencing and delivering initiatives with organizational impact&br&&/li&&li&An aptitude for directly engaging clients and users to gain strong understanding of their holistic needs&br&&/li&&li&An orientation towards teaching a nd developing junior employees&br&&/li&&li&Passion for working in an Agile/Scrum and iterative development environment&br&&/li&&li&Ability to solve complex problems using divergent thinking resulting in innovative solutions&br&&/li&&li&&b&Technical athleticism:&/b&&br&&/li&&/ul&&br&&ul&&li&An ability to break down complex initiatives into simple systems&br&&/li&&li&Deep technical domain knowledge: apps, services, systems, or frameworks&br&&/li&&li&Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with a growing set of languages, with experience in JavaScript, Node.JS, and React framework&br&&/li&&li&Strong experience with web development using modern front-end frameworks, especially ReactJS&br&&/li&&li&Strong knowledge of the AWS cloud platform and experience working with AWS resources such as Lambda, DynamoDB, DynamoDB Streams, EventBridge, SNS, SQS, Elastic Search, and more&br&&/li&&/ul&&brLI-NB1&br&&brLI-REMOTE
