Collins Aerospace is one of the world’s premier suppliers of aerospace fuel pump and gearbox technology for commercial and military aircraft. The Sustaining team at Collins Aerospace Rockford supports all pump and gearbox products through the production process (supply chain part manufacturing, pump/gearbox assembly, and test) as well as field performance (monitoring performance & resolving investigations). The Sustaining co-op will act alongside and under the guidance of full-time engineers and will learn about our products and processes as he or she solves real-world problems to support the Collins business. This position is full-time, Monday-Friday, and will run May/June- December; it is only eligible for current students with a graduation date past December 2023.
Primary Responsibilities
Creation of engineering changes (CRs) to resolve issues or drive improvements
Perform entry-level technical analyses in support of engineering changes & investigations and/or coordinate with Design & Analysis teams for completion of more complex efforts
Planning and tracking tasks, schedules and budgets (project management) in support of investigations or improvement efforts
Participating in technical Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations to resolve production issues or field failures
Preparing test procedures and reports, overseeing tests, and compiling data to provide useful information to the engineering team
Preparing and delivering presentations to communicate with internal and external customers on technical topics
Evaluation of non-conformances to component drawings for impacts on quality and performance
Resolution to supplier issues (SRI’s) with input from stakeholders
Learning to follow standard work
The successful co-op student will develop critical thinking skills & problem-solving ability, learn project management concepts, improve teamwork and customer focus, and deepen technical knowledge through understanding of hardware design & function
Basic Qualifications
Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
Must be a U.S. Citizen

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.
Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader.
Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home). An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed.
