Quality Assurance Technician / Metrologest

Job Description:

General Summary: The purpose of this position is to operate the Coordinate Measuring Machines and Vision Systems in support of production and to complete inspection reports and studies. They will provide data to the shop floor for in-process inspection, first piece approvals, first article submissions, quality assurance dimensional reports and as needed by production. The QA Tech will also help originate and update operator and quality instructions. Provide training to quality auditors and operators. Organize files, gages, mating parts etcfor the quality facilitators. Develop and troubleshoot SPC programs and activities as directed by control plans and APQP. Perform data collections, entry, and analysis. Perform Gage R&R, IQ/OQ/PQ and validation reports. Interact with customers and engineers to support problem solving, sorting and MRB procedures. Secondary duties include gage calibration. Essential Duties: Develop, execute and trouble shoot programs for the Coordinate Measuring Machines and Vision System.Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of cell and companywide procedures.Complete understanding of the gage calibration software.Maintain the calibration of gages and measurement equipment and the respective maintenance of the same on a regular basis.Develop operator / quality facilitator instructions and maintain quality boards and quality document files. Perform Gage R & Rs. Create, close and file MRBs as required. Assist manufacturing in improving their processes. Develop systems and techniques to improve quality of products produced. Communicate with customers and suppliers about continuous improvement expectations. Complete PPAPs - IQ/OQ/PQ to management, including PFMEAs, control plans, flowcharts, OQRs and other documentation as well as work on dimensional inspection layouts and capability studiesWork scheduled hours, including overtime. Volunteer for, or accept, additional overtime to help if needed. Rarely miss work or be tardy.Move from one job to another easily and efficiently. Take on and complete new tasks and responsibilities without being asked. All other duties assigned by Manager. Education and Skills Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent. ASQ Certified CQI preferred. Good understanding of blueprints and tolerances. Superior organization skills in keeping track of multiple projects and priorities and using time efficiently. Read and follow written procedures. Work independently and perform highly accurate work. Good communication skills and problem solving abilities. Basic Statistical Quality Control experience. Basic shop math skills. Write and implement procedures for Metrology Lab. Computer experience, Microsoft Excel and Word. 3 years of manufacturing experience preferred. Physical Requirements: This is largely a sedentary role, requiring use of typical office equipment such as a computer, copy machine, laptop and cell phone. May be required to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally. Most work is completed in a corporate office environment. Work Schedule/Attendance /Overtime/Travel Requirements: Approximately 40 hours a week Overtime as needed
