Salary:

Minimum $53,700 ANNUAL (12 months)
Depending on Qualifications
Expected pay range for this position is $65,000 to $80,000 per year. Actual pay will depend on experience and qualifications.

Job Summary:

Provides IT support for RARC end users, workstations, file server, database, website, list server, firewall, VPN, backup and peripheral equipment. Manage and code the RARC data-driven website, and other technology support systems as dictated by department and research needs. Continually updates software to assure systems are kept current, secure, productive and backed up. Assures compatibility of RARC information systems with other relevant campus systems. Sets up and maintains all computer equipment for RARC staff, including desktop, laptop and tablets. Provides ongoing training to staff in the use of hardware and software. RARC is a Mac-based department.

Responsibilities:

Provides multidisciplinary information technology (IT) services to support complex IT functionality according to work unit or program's business goals and objectives.
  • 25% Answers complex questions and provides information, creates documentation, and trains end users regarding hardware, software, applications, and technology access
  • 50% Installs, maintains, and troubleshoots hardware, configurations, multimedia, and software applications for various environments and business needs
  • 20% May design and execute the implementation of complex technology systems and services
  • 5% Researches potential technology purchases and makes recommendations according to work unit business needs and requests

Education:

Preferred
Associate's Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
-- Associate's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
-- Experience administering and supporting computers running MacOS and IOS.
-- Basic knowledge and familiarity with object oriented software development concepts.
-- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both alone and in a cooperative development environment.
-- Strong organizational and prioritization skills and attention to details.

Desired Qualifications:
-- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
-- Solid knowledge of Object Oriented Programming concepts and practices.
-- Basic database development experience such as writing SQL queries.
-- Experience with HTML5, JavaScript, CSS or other web development scripts and tools.
-- Knowledge of any number of the following (desirability order): Ruby on Rails, MySQL, Xojo, Apache, Google Groups API, Office 365 Outlook, Microsoft Active Directory file sharing, Microsoft Windows 10, Panorama, Cisco AMP, Global Protect, Shibboleth, Retrospect backup software, Amazon S3, Ubuntu Linux.

This position is eligible to perform a combination of on-site and remote work subject to an approved remote work agreement (RWA) agreement, which is reviewed and approved annually. Remote work requires successful candidates to possess their own high-speed internet and phone to perform the work on a University-provided computer.
