Working/Functional Title Retail Operations Supervisor III Position Summary Manage multiple retail/convenience store operations within Culinary Services of Michigan State University. Maintains guest service and quality standards by utilizing Residential and Hospitality Services Values. Assists in developing and implementing policies and procedures; human resources duties of student staffing. Prepares period financial reports and maintains unit records. Forecasts needs and orders product in order to maintain inventory levels. Serves as a liaison with guests, vendors, and university departments and partners. Maintains health and safety standards in all operations. Various hours Monday-Friday 6:00 am-3:00pm, occasional weekend shift; may vary during non-academic times Oversee operations for over 10 Sparty’s retail operations and the 1855 Place Sparty’s Market Assist in training and onboarding of over 300 student, full time, temp and on-call team members Collaborate with building partners on retail product mix Assist in research and development of retail products to ensure trends are matched Schedule regular cleaning and preventive maintenance of equipment and provide recommendations for replacement on 5-year plan Assist in payroll approvals Assist in budgets and accomplishing financial goals with sales and labor Complete and document one on one meetings and annual evaluations with direct reports Attend regular meetings and represent Culinary Services when interacting with partners and stakeholders Oversee interviewing processes, scheduling and training of student employees and service groups Participate in cross training throughout all of retail services, including the Union Food Court, International Center Food Court, Starbucks, The Workshop at STEM, and Concessions Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills Knowledge normally acquired in the first two or three years in college, technical, vocational or business school with coursework in a field related to the area of employment; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in performing tasks related to the area of employment, and may require one to three years supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Desired Qualifications Experience and education in retail management. Ability to work in extremely fast paced, highly mobile environment. Dedicated to guest service, problem solving and enthusiasm for "Delivering Outstanding Spartan Experiences". Previous experience creating positive, beneficial partner and vendor relationships. Experience with point of sales systems.
