Do you like the idea of making a positive change in people’s lives – and your own? If so, this is the perfect opportunity for you. We are looking for an HR Analyst with a wide range of experience in compensation and classification. This position is a critical role for the City of Peoria as it touches all aspects of employee compensation and classification. As the HR Analyst, you will be responsible for: conducting and completing compensation, classification and internal equity analysis and market surveys to determine salary range, the City’s market position and make recommendations on equity adjustments; conducting job classification audits and investigations, reviewing the job functions in order to accurately designate the overtime status using Department of Labor, Fair Labor Standards Act guidelines.

The primary function of this position is to perform a variety of professional and technical work related to job classification and employee compensation. Responsibilities include participation in citywide compensation programs and activities to include conducting market surveys, analyzing data, preparing reports, performing comprehensive job evaluation studies, overseeing employee job data management, maintaining compensation databases and position management, and administering and coordinating the special projects related to classification and compensation. Provide assistance on citywide benefits programs.

The ideal candidate for this position:

  • Enjoys researching and conducting analysis.
  • Has extensive experience in employee compensation and classification.
  • Has municipal Human Resources experience.
  • Is a certified professional through the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM), International Public Management Association for Human Resources (IPMA-HR) and/or the National Public Labor Relations Association (NPLRA).
  • Is passionate about providing superior public service in a team environment.
