The Finance Assistant is primarily responsible for managing the agencies accounts payable process. The Accounting Assistant will also assist the VP of Finance with monthly closing of financial records as well as other duties as assigned.



     Accounts Payable

  • Enter approved invoices, employee reimbursements and check requests in compliance with financial policies and procedures
  • Work with internal and external customers regarding account and expense inquiries
  • Research and resolve accounts payable discrepancies and issues submitted by telephone or email
  • Reconcile all company credit card accounts, which includes reviewing statements for accuracy and interfacing with cardholders to gain appropriate receipts and documentation within required timelines
  • Prepare 1099 Tax Forms
  • Provide excellent customer service to external stakeholders and employees by responding to general inquiries regarding accounts payable information
  • Maintain accounts payable files




  • Assist VP of Finance in monthly closing of financial records including reconciliations, spreadsheets, journal entries, and reports
  • Assist with balance sheet reconciliations for assigned accounts 
  • Log Berry Good Buys monthly sales in a timely manner and remit sales tax payment monthly
  • Assist VP of Finance with annual budget preparations
  • Assists with preparation of schedules required by outside auditors
  • Support VP of Finance in other related duties that contribute to the successful operation of the Finance Department and maintain confidentiality as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • High School diploma or equivalent with 5 years related experience.
  • Previous Accounts Payable experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills to work effectively with various departments and management to maintain positive working relationships
  • Must be highly organized, be able to prioritize, and communicate project status effectively
  • Must exercise good judgement and confidentiality
  • Strong data entry ability
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively
  • Strong attention to detail, with ability to process large volumes of data
  • Proven ability to set and meet ambitious deadlines, handle numerous multifaceted financial matters and see projects through to conclusion



Ability to read, analyze and interpret instructions. Ability to respond effectively to complaints or sensitive inquiries. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.




Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.



Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.



Must possess a valid driver's license and current proof of automobile liability insurance.
