Job Description:

Vice President, Securities-Backed Underwriting Officer IIIThe Senior Securities-Backed Underwritng Officer supports the Private Banking department by making credit decisions on loans collateralized by marketable securities. The position will also be responsible for monitoring and reporting on the loan portfolio to ensure acceptable collateral margins are maintained. Duties include mitigating the risk of loss and maintaining loan quality as well as providing leadership to the junior underwriter. This position operates in a hybrid work environment with some days in the office and the remaining days working from home.Position Responsibilities:UnderwritingUnderwrite and approve loan requests up to $10 million unilaterally and approval of underwriting variances below this dollar amount.Conduct due diligence, follow standard underwriting guidelines, and periodically review financial statements and tax returns.Prioritize workload to ensure timely completion of credit transactions within standard turnaround timeframes.Oversee operational activities using dashboards. Achieve established credit metric standards for loan quality, including delinquency, impairment, and charge-offs.Manage department submission volumes and direct the workflow of others in a high-volume environment.Ensure compliance with application laws, regulations, policies and procedures.AdministrationManage daily collateral monitoring activities including loans approaching margin and at margin.Mitigate the risk of loss by partnering with Relationship Managers to appropriately strategize and resolve collateral deficiencies with the customer.Review and approve requests for collateral releases while maintaining an acceptable collateral position.Perform timely follow-up with Relationship Managers on requested actions and document findings.Process SustainabilityBe a subject matter expert for the development of strategic initiatives to evolve the underwriting and collateral monitoring processes.Apply foundation knowledge of financial markets in recommendations and development of technology platforms, scoring solutions and associated processes.Leads and implements process improvement efforts.Other duties as assigned. AnalysisOversee production of reports on the portfolio condition, conduct analysis on the results, and provide recommendations to the Credit Officer and/or to Credit Policy (such as advance rates or maintenance rates, dollar amounts) to maintain acceptable loan portfolio quality.Perform Credit officer role on collections efforts. QualificationsBachelor's degree in Finance or related field6 years of Corporate Middle Market, Business Banking, or Private Banking credit underwriting experience required2 years of working knowledge in financial/investment market products and technology2 years of margin lending and previous loan approval experience preferredStrong analytical skillsKnowledge of Supernova and nCino systems preferredCompletion of Comerica's Credit College program or other formal credit training; or 8 years total of commercial lending and/or credit underwriting experienceSeeking candidates with:Strong analytical and technical skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skills Oaktec Building8:00am - 5:00pm Monday - Friday.
