Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Senior Security Officer Supervisor (SSOS) is a working supervisor. He/she will perform the functions of a Senior Security Officer (SSO) as well as supervise SSO's. The SSOS's will also be tasked with ancillary duties as the Security Operations Manager and the Assistant Director of Public Safety deem necessary.

Level Scope:
Provides immediate supervision to a unit or group of operational or technical employees. A portion of time may be spent performing individual tasks related to the unit; however, supervisory activities must constitute a primary part of the job. Supervises unit operations to ensure compliance with departmental or campus policies, procedures, and defined internal controls. Ensures accountability and stewardship of campus resources (operational, financial, and human) in compliance with departmental standards and procedures.
Essential Functions:
Public Safety Supervisor Responsibilities:
• Ensures customer service for the entire Department and campus community.
• Monitors work activities to ensure compliance with policies and procedures. Makes recommendations for changes and improvements to existing standards, policies, and procedures.
• Manages workflow and productivity of personnel to ensure that the needs of the department and campus community are met.
Supervision:
• Communicate the security needs of different departments and areas of campus to Senior Security Officers.
• Review incident reports and daily officer logs for follow-up, accuracy and detail.
• Maintain the Senior Security Officer schedule including the full-time, part-time and
event schedules.
Training Officer:
• Implement the Field Training Officer Program for new officers and perform remedial training for current officers when necessary.
Safety and Security:
• Work both independently and as a team with other Boise State Security Officers and Boise Police Officers.
• Enforce university policies including Smoke-Free Campus, Pedestrian Priority Zone, Parking, etc. in a fair, consistent, and professional manner.
Liaison:
• Establish positive working relationships with students, staff, faculty, and visitors.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
• Ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems
• Ability to communicate information effectively
• Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote an effective operation.
Minimum Qualifications:
Good knowledge of: self-defense measures; first aid; security problems and safety hazards as they relate to a large complex of buildings and grounds.
Some knowledge of supervisory practices.
Experience: performing investigations incidental to security activities; training others in security procedures; completing investigative reports; making oral presentations.
Possession of a current Driver’s License upon employment is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
• At least 3 years of experience in a security-related field, preferably in a college or university setting.
• At least 2 years of experience supervising others in a security-related field, preferably in a college or university setting.
• Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Basic computer skills including Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excell, and Internet Explorer and/or Firefox.
