The SeniorHealthcare Systems Engineerreports to the System Director of Perioperative Reengineering. This person functions under general supervision and within Lifespan established policies and proceduresprovides advance analytics mathematical modelling and project management support for perioperative services and service lines at Lifespan. Uses and shares data to support the strategic plan of perioperative services conduct feasibility analysis to implement strategic plans with respective timeline develop/implement performance improvement agenda and identifies opportunities for improving outcomes revenue utilization access efficiency and other actionable objectives. Provides support Lifespan Perioperative Triad leadership.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Applies engineering principles to support strategy improve systems & processes and staff wellness across the enterprise.
Conducts strategic and tactical planning interface with customers support/lead project management functions.
Has the ability to manage a combination of complex technical clinical financial and analytical projects.
Utilizes mathematical optimization (discrete and stochastic) simulation (discrete or agent based) and other advance modelling approaches to solve various strategic tactical and operational business problems.
Works with information services vendors department directors/managers frontline staff and outside organizations on obtaining accurate reliable and timely data.
Interfaces with the EHR data sets and databases such as (but not limited to) Vizient CDB/RM Procedural Analytics (PA) claims EPIC Analytics etc. to either submit data and/or download data for internal reporting.
Creates project artifacts and deliverables such as process flow maps data analysis models and reports.
Develops organizes and summarizes materials for presentations.
Presents project data analyses and updates to key stakeholder groups independently as requested.
Collaborates with team members and academic institutions to support projects.
Ensures data integrity consistency and accuracy through creation and implementation of data handling protocols/policies.
Oversees the audit process to ensure data and revenue integrity.
Act as project manager for various projects to ensure timeless delivery.
Oversee internal/external reporting activities.
Serves as a resource for all staff on reporting and key operational metrics. Utilizes powerful analytic and graphical data visualization systems such as PowerBI and tools available through the electronic health record for surveillance monitoring and trending overall performance metrics.
Performs other duties as assigned.
PhD in Industrial Engineering Management Science or a related healthcare field (with associated technical experience) is required.
Proficient skills in Microsoft Office i.e. Word Excel Access PowerPoint; Minitab PowerBI as well as other electronic health record and computer applications are required.
Proficient skills in simulation and optimization software database management and custom reporting tools.Advanced data display skills are required for analysis and graphing.
Prefer PeriOperative knowledge. Require eagerness and willingness to learn and be submersed in subject matter.
Minimum of 5 years of related experience within industrial engineering is required after PhD.
Expertise in analysis mathematical modelling and simulation; should have the ability to understand manipulate and utilize large complex data sets for analytical use.
Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification preferred.
Knowledge of key performance measures and outcomes in health care.
Strong interpersonal written and verbal skills; must have the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and physician leaders.
Exceptional organizational skills: ability to multi-task prioritize workload and respond to urgent requests as needed; must be able to manage their time efficiently and meet required deadlines.WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work is performed in a typical office setting requiring extensive periodsof sitting with arms extended as well as walking and standing.
Will work with the PeriOperative setting and may be required to be present in the clinical settings from time to time.
