Job Summary
The Division of Student Affairs is seeking candidates for a Student Programs Coordinator – Medical Withdrawal position. This Student Programs Coordinator in the Auburn Cares office works with students to aid them in the successful navigation of challenging personal life issues and/or critical incidents that may impede their success and retention at Auburn University. The coordinator will aid students and/or parents/guardians of students during times of student distress, need and/or emergency by serving as an advocate, liaison, resource and responsive safety net. The coordinator will spend a significant amount of time assisting students pursuing a withdrawal from courses due to medical and/or mental health condition.

Essential Functions
-Manage referred students cases, connecting referred student with appropriate university and community resources, and providing outreach and support to students and parents/guardians to address critical incidents and emergency situations.
-Meet with students regarding medical withdrawals.
-Communicate with parents, medical/psychological professionals, and instructors regarding medical withdrawal process.
-Oversee and coordinate the retroactive medical withdrawal process and committee.
-Oversee and coordinate the family medical leave process.
-Coordinate and implement marketing, outreach and training to educate students, parents, faculty and staff on the medical withdrawal process and Auburn Cares office.
-Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with various campus departments, committees, individuals, and community agencies when managing and resolving student cases.
-Assist with the management of student critical incidents and crisis situations.
-Coordinate the implementation of the Annual Student Memorial Ceremony to honor AU students who passed away during the academic year.
-Plan, develop, and coordinate assessments to evaluate effectiveness of services.
-Serve on committees and task forces as assigned.
-Other duties as assigned.

-Master’s degree from an accredited college/university in Higher Education, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Health Education or related field of study.
-Prior experience in higher education case management and / or medical withdrawals.
-Demonstrated success in marketing to college student population.
-Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, including excellent listening and problem-solving skills.
-Proven competence in responding to sensitive and serious crisis situations.
-The ability to work with diverse groups of people to build positive and effective relationships.
-The ability to effectively manage detailed work and balance times demands.
-Sound judgement and the ability to implement those concepts when working with Auburn University students.
