At GDIT, people are our differentiator. We are seeking a Medical Record Abstractor to join our team supporting the Clinical Data Abstraction Center (CDAC) contract in York, Pa. As a Medical Record Abstractor on the CDAC contract, you will be trusted to utilize your vast medical record terminology and healthcare experience to collect disease-specific information from acute care medical records in support of several federal institutions including the Center for Medicare Services (CMS), Agency for Healthcare Research (AHRQ), and Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). You will be part of a 100+ member team supporting the CDAC.
In this role, a typical day will include:
Assisting the Project Coordinator in developing, modifying, implementing, and presenting training programs required to meet contractual requirements and business goals.
Reviewing medical records and providing advice and instruction to abstractors and validation specialists on clinical data abstraction.
Reviewing abstractor and validation specialist questions related to diagnoses and other clinical documentation in the medical record.
Responding in a timely manner to abstractor and validation specialist questions through the white sheet process.
Assisting the Project Coordinator and other Training Specialists in the preparation of training plans for remote presentations.
Monitoring training progress of participants.
Participating in project workgroups in the areas of curriculum development and training.
Following all established processes and procedures.
Maintaining security and confidentiality of medical records and Protected Health Information (PHI).
Consistently meeting or exceeding expectations for quality and quantity of work established by the Company.
Consistently meeting attendance standards established by the Company
Interacting appropriately with peers and other co-workers. Contributing to a positive team spirit.
Performing other duties and projects as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
BA/BS (or equivalent experience)
2+ years of experience with medical records and/or training or equivalent education
Experience in effectively presenting training sessions and responding to individuals or groups of managers, employees, and customers
Experience leading and directing a team, managing resources, and collaborating with managers across programs
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in work involving hospital medical records review
Remote work experience preferred
