This position provides strategic and operational direction to Straumann’s North American Human Resource and Payroll functions. The VP HR NAM creates regional, comprehensive Human Resources strategies and initiatives that support business objectives for Straumann’s North American operations as well as the Andover, MA and Arlington, TX manufacturing facilities, and Instradent USA, ensuring these strategies are in line with the broader HR functional strategy. This role reports directly to the EVP Head of North America and is part of the senior executive management team in Andover. Additionally, this role as a dotted line to the Global VP HR and is a part of the Global Human Resources Lead Team.

This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
  • Leads the North America Human Resources team and provides consultative services to the organization on employment law and compliance, employee benefits, compensation, performance management, employee development and training, organizational development, employee relations, payroll, and driving the culture to meet the business objectives.
  • Works directly as a peer with top management in developing human resources strategies and policies
  • Recommends and implements human resource policies, procedures and programs in line with the global functional guidelines that meet the business needs and attract and retain high performing employees
  • Implements Development & Training Programs to improve organizational leadership, communication and management skills by designing and delivering programs and/or contracting with external resources as required.
  • Create company strategic recruitment, selection and retention strategies.
  • Coordinate company equal opportunity programs to achieve diversity goals.
  • Evaluate procedures and technology solutions to improve human resources data management.
  • Works with Compensation and Benefits Manager, responsible for ensuring competitive Compensation and Benefit Programs necessary to attract and retain high caliber talent while adhering to budgetary requirements.
  • Recommend and maintain an organizational structure and staffing levels to accomplish company goals and objectives.
  • Ensures accuracy of headcount reporting mechanisms reflecting headcount forecasting as well as personnel cost planning.
  • May perform evaluation of potential acquisition targets and/or integrate newly acquired organizations.
  • Evaluate company culture and provide recommendations on changes to accomplish company goals and objectives.
  • Supports Global HR initiatives as part of the matrix environment.
  • Participates in Local Lead Team Meetings and ensures human resource involvement and input in business planning.
  • Ensures compliance with legal guidelines and policies to protect the business and its employees and advises Management accordingly.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and Advanced degree or job experience equivalent
  • Eight to ten years’ experience in Human Resources management in an International organization preferred.
  • Experience with Canadian organizations a plus
  • Strong organizational, conceptual and analytical skills


Work Environment & Physical Demands
  • General Office Environment. No special physical demands required.
  • Some travel may be required.
