We are looking for a VP, Supply Chain to join our team and assume the lead role for our headquarters function. The VP, Supply Chain reports to the Global Chief Procurement Officer, and is an extended member of the BAE Systems, Inc. senior leadership team, and a member of the Global Supply Chain Leadership Team. The leader provides supply chain proactive thought leadership, program development and insight specifically for the supply chain function. Acts as a key partner to continue to evolve the strategy and goals related to procurement, supply planning, sales & operational planning, supply chain master data management, transportation and logistics with the main objective of ensuring the function supports the company’s strategic goals while increasing the impact and capability of the function across the business.

In this role, you will:
  • Develop and drive implementation of the multi-faceted functional strategy and governance for the supply chain function to maximize enterprise value;
  • Take a strategic leadership role with identified critical Inc. and global suppliers as part of expanding the BAE Systems Supplier Relationship Management Program;
  • Work with the sector Supply Chain/Procurement leaders and global category directors to coordinate supplier purchases and long term deals to ensure total purchasing power and relationships are fully utilized;
  • Drive the assurance of a robust supply chain risk management approach, and partner across functions to implement and lead business processes to deliver against business objectives;
  • Chair the Inc. Supply Chain Council leading the alignment of key policies, procedures and projects while driving best practice deployment and utilization across procurement, material planning, and transportation/logistics and warehousing;
  • Drive functional excellence and talent development to deliver improved capability and outcomes year-over-year;
  • Act as thought leader for system-wide supply chain strategy and monitors key performance indicators, analyzing performance data, and coordinating cross-functional teams to increase effectiveness of supply chain initiatives;
  • Represent company on external industry forums related to supply chain and procurement;
  • Report to Inc. senior leadership team on functional performance during quarterly business reviews, supporting Inc. Bid and program reviews as the functional lead;
  • Work with sector functional leads to proactively ensure proper alignment with the Finance Control Framework and drive improvements in tools, processing and measuring to track YOY improvements in audit outcomes.


Required Education, Experience, & Skills
What you will bring:
  • Bachelor's degree and 15 years of leadership experience in supply chain management, economics, finance, operations, engineering or a related area;
  • Experience and demonstrated success fostering change and influencing across an indirect, matrixed and geographically diverse functional organization;
  • Ability to lead initiatives and manage projects across business units and flex ideas/concepts with experience explaining complicated details in a clear and concise manner;
  • Ability to think innovatively in developing and enhancing best practice process frameworks that comply with applicable national obligations;
  • Proven senior leader with a deep procurement and supply chain functional experience having previously led large team(s) with both strategic and operational execution accountability;
  • Proven ability to achieve significant cost savings across multiple categories of spend and processes;
  • Extensive knowledge of contractual terms and conditions; contract law and latest thinking in procurement;
  • In-depth knowledge of supply chain, with emphasis on sourcing and procurement principles, as well as best practices in material planning and modern supply chain systems and tools;
  • Familiarity with relevant supply chain and procurement related legislative and regulatory requirements to enable and ensure compliance;
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills building a strong functional team and pipeline of talent;
  • Experience with effectively presenting to senior management, public groups and boards of directors.


Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Master’s degree;
  • Industry recognized certification such as the CPSM from the Institute for Supply Management, a near equivalent from Association of Supply Chain Management, or firms such as the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply, International Purchasing and Supply Chain Management Institute, The International Federation of Purchasing and Supply Management;
  • Significant experience in a global defense environment;
  • Commercial experience desirable.
