The Vice President, Sales provides leadership and vision in developing revenue generating initiatives to achieve the current year business plan and support the long-term strategic sales plan for Neodent USA. This position will drive business growth through relationship management at all levels of the organization and must anticipate changes in the marketplace, industry, customer base, and competitive positioning, and adjust sales strategies and plans accordingly. The Vice President, Sales will be a part of the Leadership Team for Straumann Group North America and is overall responsible for the achievement of sales targets, training and coaching Area and Regional Sales Directors in the implementation of sales systems and metrics provided by management, and ensuring that sales growth is consistent with the organization’s long-range strategic objectives. This position will report to the EVP, Head of North America, and an applicant willing to be based in Andover, Massachusetts is strongly preferred.

Job Responsibilities:

In this position, you will be expected to deliver at a strategic level, with emphasis on strong leadership while partnering with your colleagues across the organization. Some of the duties required are as follows:

  • Direct the Neodent USA sales force to achieve sales targets and collective success
  • Collaborate with Sales Excellence to drive business through other sales channels
  • Develop sales objectives including sales volume, cost of sales, and product profitability, accurately forecasting annual, quarterly, and monthly revenue streams
  • Ensure sales goals and forecasts are consistent with the organization’s long-range strategic objectives
  • Drive continuous improvement of the sales team productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness
  • Develop the Neodent USA Sales team by engaging in regular coaching and feedback to foster on-going talent development
  • Participate in Straumann’s NAM growth strategy elaboration, by constantly analyzing local and national business opportunities
  • Evaluate business potential of new market segments and new product launches
  • Assess cost and resource allocation for the entrance into new markets, leveraging existing core competencies of the organization
  • Actively participate in the Straumann Cultural Journey, role modelling the organization’s Core Beliefs
  • Contribute as a member of the Straumann North American Leadership Team to the overall success of the organization through direct participation in NAM strategy and supporting of other Lead Team Colleagues
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with key leaders of other lines of business, developing partnerships to ensure cross-collaboration and synergy across customer groups in line with the organization’s direction
  • Oversee all relevant sales support and/or professional services activities to maximize sales revenues and meet corporate objectives
  • Participate in International Sales and Marketing Meetings in/with Headquarters (Basel - Switzerland) to ensure new product development is meeting the region’s requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of sales experience with at least 5 years of experience in sales management
  • Medical device industry experience or related experience preferred
  • Dental sales experience is strongly preferred.
  • Passionate, high achiever committed to excellence in all aspects of role

  • Excellent leadership and management skills with the ability to effectively direct the organization’s domestic sales and field operations
  • High level of experience in employee development and empowerment to ensure maximizing of potential and engagement
  • Accomplished coach and mentor who relates well to people at all levels
  • In-depth knowledge of sales principles and practices
  • Excellent time management, communication, decision-making, human relations, presentation, and organizational skills
  • Proven track record of attaining sales goals and managing accounts within a large dollar volume region
  • Strong analytical skills

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

  • General office environment
  • Extensive co-travel may be required
  • Visit customers or partake in customer events and tradeshows, including overnights and occasional weekend travel
  • High stress may occur at times. No special physical demands required
