Student Life Communication (SLC) at the University of Iowa is seeking a Video/Photo Associate to support the strategic priorities of the Division of Student Life (DSL) through the creation, cataloguing, and publishing of photo and video assets. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Producing video materials as needed, including for promotional purposes in support of DSL priorities.
• Plan and develop video projects in collaboration with SLC and DSL staff according to campus and divisional strategic communications priorities
• Produce vidoes for websites, publications, and social media
• Source photos or video footage and incorporate into multimedia projects.
• Managing photo/video library.
• Managing use and maintenance of photo/video equipment and supplies.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in photography, cinema, design, journalism, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• Experience (typically 6 months or more) taking photos and videos in support of communications, promotion, or communications campaigns.
• Commitment to and alignment with the values of the Division of Student Life, including a demonstrated commitment to excellence through diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Ability to take initiative in identifying and acting upon business needs as they arise, as well as hold oneself accountable to work responsibilities with little oversight.
• Experience working with Adobe Creative Suite (particularly Lightoom, Premiere, and Photoshop) as well as Youtube.
• Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends.

Desirable Qualifications:

• Experience shooting and editing video for web and social media.
• Experience scheduling and coordinating photo and/or video shoots.
• Experience with Adobe AfterEffects.
• Experience with online cataloguing platforms, such as Photoshelter, Smugmug, and YouTube.
• Experience supervising students.
